Home Insurance

Property & Casualty

The term casualty insurance refers to coverage that protects individuals and business against liabilities and their results i.e. having property confiscated to compensate others in settlements of legal disputes. Property and Casualty commonly go together. Casualty insurance insures against accidents, not necessarily tied to any specific property.

Homeowners Insurance

Homeowners insurance protects homeowners from Casualty losses or damage to the home or personal property and from liability damages to other people or property.

Homeowners Insurance can vary greatly from homeowner to homeowner. When selecting coverage EIS will help you determine the best carrier and appropriate coverage for you by assessing some primary factors affecting your policy which are size, location, age, construction type and even your credit score. Your policy coverage will be broken down as follows:

Coverage A - Dwelling

Coverage A is the estimation of Replacement Cost of the physical structure of the primary dwelling of your home. Coverage A only covers the physical structure of the dwelling and not any other detached structures

Coverage B - Other Structures

Coverage B applies to the other structures that are on your property which are not attached to the primary dwelling. Other Structures may be any of the following: Detached Garage, Barn, Fences, Guest House, Pool House, Shed, etc.

Coverage C - Personal Property

Coverage C is the limit that the insurance company will pay out in the event of a covered loss involving your personal property. This property is anything that is not attached to the home

Coverage D - Loss of Use

Coverage D pays out in the event that you are unable to live in your primary home due to a covered loss.

Coverage E - Personal Liability

Coverage E covers Bodily Injury or Property Damage which you are legally responsible for. It protects the homeowner against claims for which you may legally liable.

Coverage F - Medical Payments

Coverage F covers a set amount of time payable towards injuries sustained by someone that is not the insured or regular resident of the property. This coverage may only go to the stated limit amount. Sub-Limits

Homeowner's policies contain sub-limits for items such as jewelry, furs, silverware that are lost, stolen, or misplaced. Additional coverage can be obtained for these items for an additional premium. Additional credits (up to 10%) are available if your home is equipped with central station burglar and/ or fire alarms.

This summary only provides a highlight of coverage. Please refer to the actual policy for insurance description and limitations.
